I am Blogman - Hear me Blog
um.. well, I guess you don’t actually HEAR this blog, but you are reading it, and that’s what matters.
BUT HANG ON…..
Why DO we blog? Who are we talking to? What are we trying to achieve?
Is it our desire to show the world who we are, what we like, what we ate for dinner last night and what we are doing in out own personal lives? If that is the case … why?
If some random guy came up to my front door, knocked on it and said “Shaun, what have you done this week, tell me about Uni, show me some of your personal photos and show me all the Internet Sites you’re into” Id probably slam the door in his face (Actually, that’s a lie - Id probably invite him in and be his best friend, such is my sad and lonely existence :) But no, we wouldn’t tell them, we would go and sit in front of our computer and scream it out to all of our “friends” on the Internet. So Mr Random Guy can go home and read my damn blog!! I don’t want to actually TALK to people.
Then of course we have to take our “Twittering” into account. I have a twitter account, and one of the people I happen to follow is Mark Hoppus from Blink 182. Do you know what I learnt from Mark 5 hours ago?
“Somewhere in this world there exists a sandwich that, within the hour, I will eat”
… … … that’s it. I might write to MTV “Hey, new headline today guys, Mark Hoppus is going to eat a sandwich!!!” Yet I still update my Twitter feed on my iPhone every hour, just in case Felicia Day has decided to do a photo shoot for some trashy men’s mag (See, sad and lonely :)
I guess we blog less to tell the world what we ARE doing, but more about what we WANT to be doing. Maybe one day Mr Random Stranger will be trolling my blog and read something amazing that I have written (It could happen!!!) and say to himself “Hang on! This is the guy I’ve been looking for!!!” and the next second I have an email asking me to work for a highly paid [insert dream job here].
What DO I want to do with my future? Well, the world is full of possibilities, but for right now Ill just quote Wayne Campbell.
“What I’d really like to do is something extraordinary. Something big. Something mega. Something copious. Something capacious. Something cajunga! But I’ll probably end up working at Great America, mopping up hurl and lung butter.”
Peace!
